COLLAGE > Landscape Scenes > Carpathian Mountains, View from Romania

While at the Art Residency in Sibiu, Romania in July 2014 with 20 international artists, we visited many historical sites, time-honored castles, including a national landmark - Bran Castle of Vlad the Impaler in Transylvania on the mountainside in the Carpathians.

This scene is at an elevation of about 1000 feet of the base of the mountain, just before a ride in the lifting cars to the top of the mountain, where we saw the beautiful Lake Balea. The winding waterfall was running down the mountain’s valley, and we were surrounded by the picturesque views of the enormous pristine pine-trees of the Carpathians.

After returning to my studio, I decided to challenge myself to reflect this scene by just collaging paper images, which is much more complex than simply mixing the needed colors with paint.

Made entirely from the images of printed publications, this collage took more than several months to make.  After much trial and error, I am happy with the result of my efforts.  This magnificent view reminds me of my good memories at the art residency in Transylvania area, Romania.
